The Rome News-Tribune is among newspapers participating in a
new program from Google that allows internet users to view archives of full newspapers.
Rome News-Tribune editions from 1950 onward are in Google’s archive, as are issues of The Rockmart Journal starting from 1984. The Cedartown Standard, Calhoun Times, Cherokee County Herald, Catoosa County News and Walker County Messenger also are available, with their oldest editions from 1988.
Readers can
search by topic, date and newspaper. Results will include the entire paper as it appeared in publication — headlines, articles, photos and even advertisements.
For example, readers can see the Rome News-Tribune
extra edition that followed President Kennedy’s assassination, or just search to see what happened the day they were born.
