The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Feb. 27:

1. CASA of Polk and Haralson Counties will be offering their winter training class to become a child advocate for children involved in juvenile court proceedings. The 40 hour program will begin Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 and classes will be held in Cedartown on Mondays and Wednesdays for a total of 10 classes. For more information and to register call 770-748-2414

3. Transitions Hospice Care is seeking compassionate individuals to provide support and companionship to patients.

4. Paper Recovery of Georgia, Inc. is partnering with the City of Rockmart in a recycling effort. A recycle container for cardboard, newspaper, office paper and magazines will be placed at the parking lot adjacent to the new Municipal Building. All Rockmart residents are encouraged to participate by placing recyclable paper in the container.
